‘On Tempestuous Seas - Crossing Your Own Ocean’

Elin Haf Davies,
Campaigner and Adventurer

Elin qualified as a Children's Nurse in 1998, before going on to complete a BSc (Hons), an MSc and a PhD at University College London. She gained 13 international A caps for the Welsh rugby squad, was the first Welsh woman to row across the Atlantic Ocean and was part of the first all-female crew to ever row across the Indian Ocean in 2011. She completed her personal hat-trick of oceans when she sailed across the north Pacific in 2012. She campaigns to develop medicines for ill children and uses her adventures as a platform to raise awareness about rare childhood disorders and the need to develop new drugs.

Not everyone wants to row across an ocean (obviously!) but we all have a personal challenge that we want to complete and she hopes that the lessons she learnt on the waves can help others to prepare for their own challenges.

To Boldly Go Where No Woman Has Gone Before…

The BBC has ‘courageously’ challenged tradition and enraged traditionalists by announcing a female Dr Who but there is still a big difference today in 2017 in the image that many companies portray and what really goes on behind closed doors as regards the appointment of women leaders.
